Two KATC Investigates specials have been nominated for Emmy Awards
"Body of Evidence" and "Community $ervice" each have been nominated in the Investigative Report – Single Story category of the 44th Annual Suncoast Regional Emmy® Awards 2020.
Body of Evidence was a piece about the cremation of homicide victims in Louisiana. The team was Jim Hummel, Justin Terro, Wynce Nolley and David Hilbun.
Community $ervice examined a practice in Calcasieu Parish that allowed people to buy gift cards and donate them to the DA's non-profit to get out of serving community service. The team was Jim Hummel, Justin Terro, and David Hilbun.
The winners will be announced later this year.
KATC was the only Acadiana newsroom recognized. Last year, a KATC Investigates series, The List, won a Suncoast Regional Emmy Award. The program focused on the accusations of sexual abuse in the Diocese of Lafayette.
