According to The Current, former Lafayette Mayor-President Josh Guillory was indicted on Thursday on four counts of malfeasance in office in connection with the removal of spoil banks along the Vermilion River.
Lafayette Consolidated Government carried out the spoil bank project in 2022, blocking the river with barges to block the spoil-bank levees from the St. Martin side to private property on the Lafayette side, the Current reports.
