LAFAYETTE — Louisiana football won the eye-test through three games, but Saturday's match-up against Ohio offers the team a true measuring stick' for 2019.

The 2-1 Cajuns have played up (Mississippi State) and down (Liberty & Texas Southern) Saturday Louisiana finally meets a peer.

Ohio is the preseason favorite to win the Mid-American Conference. It's the Cajuns first game against a MAC team, a peer conference for the Sun Belt. Both are part of the Group of 5 conference.

Billy Napier speaking the media Monday emphasized the importance of Sun Belt teams playing well when in these matchups.

"I think it's important for our league. Something you quality control at the end of the year. I think Carl Benson, as he engineered a plan for improvement in the Sun Belt that was an emphasis and I respect that," he said. "Certainly in recruiting it can become a big deal. I think you can see the Sun Belt is steadily improving."
