Billy Napier is coaching from isolation this week as Louisiana prepares for ULM Saturday.

The Cajuns' head coach tested positive for COVID-19 over the weekend as his team recovered from the virus, too. Louisiana canceled its game with Central Arkansas last Saturday, and shut down team activities after more than 30 players were put into COVID protocol early last week.

Napier admitted that he went through a difficult 36-hour period, but said Monday he felt better during a virtual press conference. He'll remain in isolation until Friday and will travel to ULM separately from team, though he'll be on the sideline during the game.

Napier remains involved with the team's preparation, but said he does miss live practice.

Louisiana plays at ULM, a winless Warhawks program, on Saturday. It's the 36th meeting between the two.

"A large majority of our kids are from Louisiana. They understand the importance of this game with it being an instate rival," Napier said. "Certainly I think history is the best indicator of the future and they've played us well two years in a row. So they'll be motivated."
