LAFAYETTE — The strength of the Ragin' Cajuns entering 2019 is undoubtedly their running back room.
Junior Trey Ragas is a two time All-Sun Belt member, after leading UL in rushing the last two years. Junior Elijah Mitchell eclipsed 1,300 yards from scrimmage and 16 TD's to land on the SBC 2nd team in 2018.
but senior raymond calais...most known for his kick returning skills so far at louisiana...is maybe having the most impressive camp of that room.
the cecilia product...finishing 2018 with over 750 rushing yards and 7 touchdowns...and earning a honorable mention sun belt nod...
over the summer...calais also worked on catching the ball out of the backfield...
billy napier certainly believes that even with a crowded backfield...calais must be featured more in 2019.
Raymond was a guy when we came in wasn't necessarily a heralded guy. Hey, this guy's not a running back. He's a slot receiver. But all this guy's done since I've been here is master his class.
I knew coming into this camp is I would have to be more consistent. Coach wants to see it on tape. Every day I put my head down and I grind and I grind. That don't stop the show I just gotta continue to get better and stuff.
