NEW ORLEANS – More postseason awards poured in for Louisiana Women’s Basketball with freshman guard Brandi Williams and sophomore center Ty’Reona Doucet each earning honors on the 2018-19 All-Louisiana Sports Writers Association team, with Williams being named LSWA Third Team All-Louisiana and Doucet earning LSWA Honorable Mention, as a part of the LSWA All-Louisiana awards announced on Saturday by the LSWA.

Williams, who was named the Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year, finished the season with solid numbers across the board, finishing as the leading Sun Belt freshman scorer (13.0 ppg.), earning the top free throw percentage (.877) in the conference and coming in third in the Sun Belt in minutes (33.3 mpg.).

She became the first to ever earned SBC Freshman of the Year honors in program history and during conference play, Williams increased her production, averaging 14.7 points per game. At the free throw line Williams was automatic, shooting .913 percent from the charity stripe.  Nationally Williams finished 19th in free throw percentage, and among the Top-20 for best free throw percentage, Williams attempted the third most free throws.

Doucet’s season was impressive as well, setting a school record for rebounds in a single game (22) and she finished with 10 double-doubles on the season. Doucet’s double-double run started right away, with the Louisiana sophomore starting the season with six straight double-doubles, tying a school record for consecutive double-doubles.

For her 22-rebound, 29-point performance at McNeese State (Nov. 11), Doucet earned Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week honors on November 13, 2018. When the dust settled on the 2018-19 season, Doucet finished fourth in the conference in rebounding (8.3 rpg.), second in field goal percentage (.563) and 13th in scoring (13.2 ppg.).
