Einarsdottir Lifts Ragin’ Cajuns Soccer To 1-0 Victory Over ULM

LAFAYETTE, La. – Sophomore Una Einarsdottir’s first half goal lifted the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns soccer team to a 1-0 victory over ULM in Sun Belt Conference play on Sunday afternoon at the Ragin’ Cajuns Soccer/Track Facility.

Louisiana (2-7-2, 1-2-0 SBC) dominated the possession during the match outshooting the Warhawks (0-10-0, 0-3-0 SBC) 13-2 in the contest including a 7-2 edge in shots on goal. The Ragin’ Cajuns also had a 10-2 edge in corners.

Einarsdottir and Madysin Girouard led the team with three shots apiece on the day. Sophomore keeper Victoria Ryan posted her first victory and clean sheet of the season making two comfortable saves in the match.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Louisiana grabbed the lead just before the half in the 42nd minute when Einarsdottir settled a pass from Julianna DeBlieux and sent a shot from 26 yards out over the head of the ULM keeper into the back of the net to make the score 1-0.

The Ragin’ Cajuns increased the pressure in the second half posting a 10-1 advantage in shots forcing Brooke-Lynn Scroggins into five saves. The squad also played strong defensively preserving the second shutout of the year.
