LAFAYETTE — St. Thomas More Junior quarterback Walker Howard committed to play for LSU Friday.
He chose the Tigers over Alabama and Texas A&M among other teams.
Howard is considered the 62nd overall prospect and No. 3 pro style QB in the nation for the class of 2022, according to 247 Sports. That's despite not starting a game yet for the Cougars.
Howard is also the son of former LSU QB Jamie Howard, who was under center for the Bayou Bengals from 1992-95. Howard threw for 6,158 yards during his 4 year career with the Tigers, which ranks 5th all-time in program history.
Walker Howard said following in his father's footsteps was a big factor.
"You know I chose the school (because) family means a lot to me," Walker Howard said. "It's close to home. I'm happy to be home. The school that I'm looking for, a school I have a network after. It's going to help me a lot after college."
