LSU tight end Arik Gilbert is staying in the SEC, and transferring to rival Florida.

Gilbert as a Freshman caught 35 passes for 368 yards and 2 TDs in 8 games. He was ranked as the No. 1 tight end and the No. 5 overall player in the 2020 class, according to 247Sports' rankings.

The Georgia native opted out of the 2020 season on December 9th, but at the time LSU expected him to return.

Gilbert is expected to replace Florida TE Kyle Pitts, who is projected as a 1st round pick in the upcoming 2021 NFL Draft.

Meanwhile for LSU, among the candidates to replace Gilbert will be St. Thomas More's Jack Bech, who is expected to move to TE in Baton Rouge.
