Lafayette native Mondo Duplantis officially set the bar in pole vault Saturday.
Representing Sweden, Duplantis eclipsed the world record, with a vault of 6.17 meters at the Orlen Copernicus Cup as part of the World Athletics Indoor Tour. He broke Renaud Lavillenie’s record of 6.16 M that was set in 2014.
As a former LSU track and field star, the Tigers did an in-depth analysis of the physics behind Duplantis' skills.
Duplantis is expected to compete with Sweden at the 2020 Olympics.
