Acadiana wins 5th 5A State Championsip with 8-3 victory over Destrehan

It was the perfect finish to the perfect season.

Acadiana completing an undefeated 15-0 year with the 5A state championship, after an 8-3 victory over Destrehan Saturday.

The Wreckin' Rams defense, coming up with arguably their best defensive performance of the year, on the biggest state. The Wildcats only were able to score 3 points, while they were held to 140 total yards. Acadiana also forced a safety in the 4th quarter to make the score 8-3.

Destrehan Running Back Kyle Edwards, an Alabama commit, was held to 47 yards rushing. Meanwhile Wide Receiver Quincy Brown, who has offers from LSU, Alabama and Georgia among others, had only 5 catches for 19 yards.

For the Rams, RB Dillon Monette won 5A Most Outstanding Player, after rushing for 153 yards on 21 carries, while adding a 56 yard TD Catch in the 1st quarter.

This is Acadiana's first state title since 2014 and their 5th overall.
