St. Mary Parish Deputies have made an arrest in connection with several thefts in the parish in May.
On May 3, a side-by-side and an ATV were stolen from a location on Berwick South Road. Upon driving across the Highway 90 Atchafalaya River Bridge, one of the ATVs fell off of the trailer and caused a crash involving several other vehicles. Then, on May 7, a boat was stolen from a business on Highway 182 in Bayou Vista.
Multiple agencies participated in the investigation that eventually led to information and the developing of Kevin William Veneralla, 40, of Riverridge, as the suspect in several thefts in the area.
Veneralla was located at another agency and transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking.
"Knowing about the increase in burglaries that we have been experiencing in areas of our parish, I am confident not only in our abilities but with the abilities of the surrounding agencies working together with us and I believe those responsible will be arrested and brought to justice," said Sheriff Blaise Smith. "Remember, if you see something, say something."
Veneralla is facing theft charges. His bond has been set at $50,000.
