The City of Eunice provided meals to family via their mobile food pantry.

On Monday the drive thru pantry opened in the Word Ministries Church parking lot located at 1960 West Laurel Avenue starting at Noon. Those picking up food had until 3:30 pm. to do so.

The City says they are hoped the pantry would help those residents affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Those using the service were asked to stay inside their vehicles. Drivers were asked to pop their trunks and food box were placed inside.

Food boxes were provided on a first come, first service basis.

during the covid 19 we know that people have been laid off or out of work for what ever reason. just maintain that hope. continue to pray. we are thinking of you and the city of eunice and we are going to do whatever we can to assist whenever we can," Eunice Councilwoman Germaine Simpson said.

As part of the Second Harvest Food Bank, more mobile pantries will happen later this week in other areas of St. Landry Parish.
