Port Barre will be handing out food boxes to residents this week for those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

On Thursday at 1:00 pm, Port Barre Police Department in conjunction with Second Harvest Food Bank will be handing the boxes at the Port Barre Police Department on Saizan Avenue.

Organizers say they only have a limited supply of food boxes. Drivers are asked to not exit their vehicles but open their trunks and a box will be placed inside.

The Police Department asks that those needing these essentials not show up until 1:00 pm.
