Graduation celebrations began for seniors in St. Mary Parish on Thursday.

Berwick High School and West St. Mary High School both held commencement ceremonies tonight at 7 p.m.

All ceremonies in St. Mary Parish are being held outdoors at the schools' football stadiums. Administrators are implementing proper social distancing measures and limitations on the number and placement of attendees.

One West St. Mary High graduate said being resilient helped her get through this tough time.

"It's kind of hurtful, but at the same time it's different and it's unique," explained Tori Robertson. "So it's going to make us stand out and prove that, no matter what, we can get through it."

Franklin High and Morgan City High will hold ceremonies Friday at 6:30 p.m., while Patterson's ceremony is scheduled for Saturday at 10 a.m.
