The St. Martinville City Council met tonight to discuss and approve several issues.

The council discussed a new car for Mayor Melinda Mitchell. The Mayor wanted to no longer use her allotted car allowance and instead hoped the city would buy a car for her. The vehicle allowance is $800 a month. Previously, the council tabled a discussion to purchase a new vehicle for Mayor Mitchell.

A council member said the purchase was approved tonight by the council. He added that there was no opposition to the motion for the mayor's new vehicle.

The council also is moving forward on pay grade adjustments for public works employees. Those adjustments are allotted in the city's budget, said a council member, so they have to go before the town's CFO before approval.

On the agenda for tonight was the discussion of the cost to be incurred for the relocation of existing transmission lines in Evangeline Mobile Home Park. That discussion was moved to another date six months from now, because, according to a council member, there are "other options to look at." Problems at the mobile home park have been under discussion since 2018.
