A juvenile has been arrested in connection with a shooting on Friday evening.

St. Martinville Police confirm that they arrested the juvenile around 3 a.m. on Saturday morning.

That shooting sent a St. Martinville man to Lafayette General Medical Center for treatment of a gunshot wound.

Police say that shortly before 4 p.m. on Friday, officers received a call from the father of the victim stating that his son had been shot in the leg. When officers arrived to speak to the father of the victim, they discovered the victim had transported himself to a residence on Governor Mouton St. in St. Martinville.

Officers discovered at this residence the male adult victim that was shot in the leg. The victim was sent to a Lafayette hospital for treatment.

After an investigation, police say an argument allegedly took place between two parties in the 300 block of LaSalle St. in St. Martinville. Multiple shots were then fired at a vehicle, which police say contained the victim.

St. Martinville Police Officers later secured a white pickup truck which was believed to be involved with the shooting. Officers observed three single gunshot holes on the tailgate of the truck and a single gunshot hole on the back window. That bullet traveled through the truck and struck the front window, police say.

St. Martinville Police Officers, with assistance from the SMPSO SWAT Team, arrested a St. Martinville juvenile for Attempted Second Degree Murder, Aggravated Second Degree Battery, three counts of Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, and Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property.

The juvenile was booked into the St. Martin Parish Jail.
