EUNICE — A father and his daughter were two of three people arrested in connection to a Eunice shooting last month.

Billy James Thomas is accused of shooting a man in the 400 block of East Vine Street in June. Thomas surrendered to law enforcement on July 19 and is now facing an attempted second degree murder charge.

The shooting happened around 2 am on Friday, June 21 in the 400 block of E. Vine Avenue. The victim was identified as a 43-year-old male. Fontenot says the victim was shot once in the upper torso while at his friend’s residence.

Thomas's estranged girlfriend Lacora Reed was arrested earlier this week on principal to attempted second degree murder, obstruction of justice charges. Chief Randy Fontenot says Reed was in the vehicle with Thomas at the time of the shooting. Chief says she also helped Thomas hide and lied to detectives about his location.

Thomas's daughter 20-year-old Kiara Thomas was arrested Thursday for her alleged role in hiding Thomas from police.

"You aide and abet any criminal, we will come after you too. If you hold back information we will also get arrested for aiding and abetting," said Chief Fontenot.
