Eunice police searching for suspect in early morning shooting

EUNICE–Police are searching for a suspect wanted in connection with a shooting that injured one person Friday morning in Eunice.

Chief Randy Fontenot says the shooting happened around 2 am on Friday, June 21 in the 400 block of E. Vine Avenue.

The victim is identified as a 43-year-old male. Fontenot says that man was shot once in the upper torso while at his friend’s residence. The victim was taken by air to a Lafayette hospital for treatment.

A suspect is wanted for questioning in connection with the shooting. Fontenot says that officers are currently looking for 41-year-old Billy Thomas.

Police say that Thomas has a record of several weapons violations and a 2004 arrest for attempted Second-degree murder. Thomas should be considered armed and dangerous.

Eunice Police say that Thomas is also wanted on an outstanding warrant on Domestic Abuse Battery and Home Invasion charges.

An investigation is ongoing.
