On Tuesday, October 1, the Lafayette City Parish Council considered overturning Mayor-President Joel Robideaux's line item budget veto, canceling funding for the Louisiana Avenue Extension.

After consideration, however, the veto will stand. The council was split in its support for a veto override.

With the veto, Robideaux reallocated $7.1 million from the project to drainage works.

In his veto letter, Robideaux argues the Louisiana Avenue Project should move forward only after all properties surrounding the connection are annexed into Lafayette city limits.
