The 8-year-old boy shot and injured in a drive-by shooting on Tuesday in Iberia Parish has died, according to IPSO Spokesperson Lt. Col. Wendell Raborn.

The boy, identified as Jamal Robinson, was the only person injured when Jonas Hawk, 26, shot rounds into a group of people outside a home on N. Neco Town Road.

Charges against Hawk will be upgraded to 14 counts of Attempted First Degree Murder and one count of First Degree Murder.

Investigators say the cause of the shooting stemmed from an ongoing dispute between Hawk and the 8-year-old's uncle.

KATC spoke with a neighbor on Wednesday who said she has lived on N. Neco Town Road for 15 years and has never feared for her safety until now.

Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office Lieutenant Wendell Raborn says, "[Hawk] decided to drive and fire at least four rounds towards the crowd. And his intended victim escaped unharmed. Anytime you hurt a kid, they haven't done anything, they don't deserve that."
