The Crowley city council has appointed Captain Terry Romero interim fire chief.
That appointment comes after former Chief Jody Viator retired on New Year's Eve, ending a 30-year career as a firefighter.
Romero said after his appointment, "I was pleased that he considered me as the interim fire chief. I'm looking forward to working with the guys that I've been working with for the last 25 years and moving forward, which is all we can do."
The city council called tonight's special meeting to appoint an interim chief and discuss sewer service fees.
