Church Point Police Chief Dale Thibodeaux confirmed on Saturday morning additional cases of COVID-19 in Acadia Parish.

Thibodeaux said further details could not be released due to confidentiality reasons. He added there are no confirmed cases in the town of Church Point at this time.

Chief Thibodeaux advised residents to not let their guard down and to continue following safety measures, including staying at home and maintaining a safe distance.

Police are not stopping any cars on the roads or giving tickets because cars are on the road. Thibodeaux reiterated as well that officials are not putting a stop on the sale of alcohol.

"We need to continue to abide by the regulations set forth," Thibodeaux added to his Facebook post. "Let's continue to follow the stay at home order and get over this so that we may be able to resume our normal lives again."

The Louisiana Department of Health was reporting eight cases of COVID-19 in Acadia Parish as per their latest update Friday at noon. Those numbers will update again on Saturday at noon. You can find the latest numbers here.
