Family, friends, and activists will gather Saturday evening for a candlelight vigil in honor of 15-year-old Quawan Charles. The vigil will take place just over a month after the teenager's body was found in Iberia Parish.
Community members are invited to attend the vigil, which begins at 5:30 p.m. Candles will be provided and masks are required for all who attend.
The vigil is being held at the field where Charles' body was found, according to organizers, who say the event is one in a series of vigils that have taken place nationwide. For those wanting to attend, the vigil will be located at 217 Mary Beth Drive in New Iberia.
Charles was reported missing from his father's home in Baldwin on October 30 and his body was found in rural Loreauville days later.
