New Orleans Saints legend Tom Dempsey is "doing well" after testing positive for COVID-19, according to the team and his daughter Ashley.

Dempsey resides at Lambeth House in New Orleans, classified by the Louisiana Department of Health as one of many hot spots across the state.

Dempsey became symptomatic late last week and was tested at Tulane University Medical Center. His positive test result came back on Saturday, March 28. His daughter told The Advocate that her father's symptoms were relatively mild.

His daughter Ashley said Dempsey is "doing well but not out of the woods yet." She asked that everyone continue praying for her father.

Since 2013, Dempsey has fought Alzheimer's disease and dementia

Dempsey set the NFL record for longest successful field-goal attempt (63 yards) in 1970.
