Saints Quarterback Drew Brees and his wife Brittany announced that they will be donating $5 million to support the creation of health centers throughout Louisiana.
The couple says that the donation, made through the Brees Dream Foundation, is in partnership with Ochsner Health and will help serve communities most in need.
Ochsner says that the health centers will offer primary and specialty care to underserved communities in New Orleans and Baton Rouge. The community health centers, according to the health system, will be in neighborhoods with limited health resources and will tailor services and specialties to the unique needs of area residents.
"We will continue to bridge the gap to bring healthcare, education, and economic equity to all of our communities," the couple said in an Instagram post. "We are proud to bring the first of these health care centers to New Orleans East later this year."

This is the second donation made by the couple this year.
In March, the pair announced a $5 million donation to the state in partnership with local organization and businesses to help prepare and deliver 10,000 meals a day throughout Louisiana during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The couple has also recently given funding for a new kitchen for Second Harvest Food Bank in Lafayette.
The kitchen, according to Brees and Second Harvest, will allow for the preparation of more than 15,000 meals a week for children, families, and seniors across Acadiana and South West Louisiana.
