An area of low pressure between the Bahamas and Florida has become slightly better organized this afternoon and has become Tropical Depression 3 with sustained winds of 30 mph.

The system is moving to the NW at 13 mph and is expected to ride up along the east coast of Florida and could eventually head for the Carolinas.

The good news is the system is projected to encounter a good bit of upper level wind shear which should prevent the system from strengthen into anything more than just a tropical depression.

That said, Tropical Depression 3 will bring heavy rainfall across portions of Florida the next couple days before the system merges with a cool front.
