There's a solid layer of cloud cover out there early Tuesday morning which has kept temperatures much warmer then they were to start the week, and eventually will give way to a handful of showers.
Scattered rain will start to pop up around lunch time and move through the area during the early afternoon hours, although they should stay fairly isolated and short lived.
It won't be able to help much with temperatures as highs are still expected to move into the mid 80s with a heat index running a little higher by the end of they day.
This is the start of warm up that will last through the middle of the week with highs falling just shy of about 90 on Wednesday afternoon.
While there's a cool down expected by the end of the week this will be accompanied with showers and storms as they roll through the area over the weekend.
The set up may allow for some severe weather in northern parts of the state, with the more serious storms remaining in north of Alexandria.
