With the 10PM update Sunday night Isaac has strengthen to a hurricane as it is becoming better organized with an eye starting to form.

Isaac will slowly strengthen in the coming days topping out as a category 2 storm with 100 mph winds on Tuesday as it tracks west across the Atlantic towards the Lesser Antilles Islands.

The latest track by the National Hurricane Center has Isaac passing over Dominica Thursday morning as a category 1 hurricane.

After crossing into the Caribbean Sea Isaac should weaken to a tropical storm and most models have it stay to the south and dying as it moves over Central America.

However, we will have to watch Isaac closely to make sure the models don’t change and that it does not turn up into the Gulf but I say chances of that happening are very slim.

Also, in the tropics Hurricane Florence looks to continue to strengthen to a major hurricane as it heads for the east coast while Hurricane Helene should eventually take a northerly turn and stay out over the open waters of the Atlantic.
