Some pockets of much-needed rainfall popped up across parts of Acadiana this weekend, and it looks like the wet weather is just getting started with a couple of wet days to start the week.

Monday will be another quiet start to the morning with mostly sunny skies on tap with warm and muggy conditions prevailing throughout south Louisiana, which is nothing new.

It won’t be long before clouds start building up, and we’ll be looking at mostly cloudy skies by about lunchtime on Monday with a few showers starting to pop up shortly after.

Monday’s showers will be chaotic and pop up in nature with a few heavy downpours likely, but the main issue with the storms will likely be frequent lightning so be on the lookout.

Wet weather will pick up steam late Monday with the wettest day of the week coming Tuesday with widespread showers and storms through the morning and into the afternoon.

The ground should be ready to take on some rain, so not expecting flooding to be an issue, and rain totals don’t look overly impressive; we may pick up an inch over the next few days.

Once the front pushes through, dry air will stay just out of range, and the southerly winds will push pop up showers back into the forecast through the end of the week.
