Vera Wang is known worldwide for her iconic wedding dresses. Her modern, clean designs were antithetical to the puffed-up, lacy wedding dresses that dominated the bridal industry for decades, and she changed the way many people thought of bridal gowns. However, right now, Vera Wang is not being celebrated for her career accomplishments, but for her youthful appearance.
While sheltering at home, Wang has been posting intimate looks of her life, including an inside glimpse at her palatial digs in Miami. But what has fans most impressed is how time-defyingly young the 70-year-old businesswoman looks.
As you can see from this Instagram photo featuring Wang’s toned belly and youthful fashion taste, the André Leon Talley Lifetime Achievement Award winner looks like a twentysomething, not a septuagenarian!
Wang is currently sheltering at home in Miami with her “work family,” following Paris Fashion Week, she told Harper’s Bazaar. She says that her colleagues are devoted to fitness, which encourages her to work out every day and helps her stay committed to her health.
Along with having extra time to exercise, Wang said that being under stay-at-home orders with fellow fashion-lovers as given her the opportunity to play with clothes and be creative.
“And of course, it being a hardcore fashion group, and me having my lifelong obsession with leggings, I had the opportunity to actually ‘play’ with clothes, something even a fashion designer rarely has the luxury of doing,” Wang says.
That play is coming out in her Instagram posts, like this photo of her posing in front of a treadmill, which ran with the story in Harper’s Bazaar. “This photo depicts my personal conflict between loving athleisure clothing but dreading the treadmill!” she wrote for the publication. “Okay. My own sense of personal irony: lycra/poly meets high-heeled pumps!”
In another post, she’s ready for “cocktail hour” in a neon-snakeskin puffer coat, shorts and heels. “Vera, the eternal teenager,” one commenter wrote.
She may look like a teenager, but like many business owners, Wang has had to make many difficult business decisions about her brands and how to keep her employees safe during this difficult time. Earlier than required, Wang shuttered her companies in order to protect her employees, she explained to Women’s Wear Daily.
“We’re not firing people. Everybody is being paid. They didn’t ask for this. There’s no insurance coverage for this kind of thing. There’s no act-of-God insurance claim and all that kind of stuff that can help you,” she said to WWD. “In my own humble way, I know that I’m responsible for people’s lives. That has never escaped me as an owner. These are people who work insane hours and give up a lot of their lives for me. I have to give that back.”
Turns out her youthful appearance is just one of the many impressive things about this talented business mogul!
