For the 8th straight year Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival organizers asked Lafayette artist Tony Bernard to design their official poster.

Bernard has been doing commercial art for 35 years and has done posters for several other festivals throughout Acadiana.

This year Bernard decided to start with the state of Louisiana to create a boundary for the focal point of his design.

Then within the state he painted different fun aspects of the festival such as dancing and crawfish.

But the main feature was a throwback to the roots of the crawfish industry with a farmer walking through his pond pushing a small boat while checking his crawfish traps.

To finish off the poster Bernard free flowed the background starting in one corner and going around the edge adding different little elements or phrases that relate to Breaux Bridge and the festival.

Bernard says "I try to be unique in every festival (poster) that I do and so most of the time I get guidance from God, I pray about it and ask God to use me."

All together, from design to completion, it took Bernard 3 days to finish this year’s poster.
