UPDATE: The roadway has been cleared on University Avenue after a tree fell and blocked traffic, according to Lafayette Sgt. Robin Green.

The Lafayette Police Department said a tree has fallen on University Avenue near the airport.
Lafayette Police are advising motorists to avoid the area.
