Tools for Schools and Jim Oliver’s Family of Companies is back this week to help out a school in St. Mary Parish.
KATC’s team was at Raintree Elementary to give Suzette Charpentier and her students’ physical education equipment. Charpentier says the students need foam footballs and kickballs to help improve cognitive skills and increase physical activity.
“Physical activity also helps to enhance concentration and attention as well as improve classroom behavior. In addition to the classroom advantages, footballs and kickballs help to improve hand-eye coordination, manipulative skills, and team cooperation,” Charpentier said.
Charpentier says that the Physical Education department at Raintree Elementary has an extremely small budget for the 500 students at the school.
“We must find our own sources of monies and equipment,” Charpentier said.
