LAFAYETTE — Louisiana guard Mylik Wilson is the Sun Belt's freshman of the year.

The Rayville native averaged 11.4 PPG, shooting 48-percent from the field, 35-percent from three. His 79 assists led Louisiana this season.

"He's been consistent," said Bob Marlin Monday before the awards were announced. "He's got to get better and we need to get him lower to the ground on the offense and defensive standpoint. He has a lot of potential, and I think he's had a great year."
