Louisiana football is turning opponents over nearly twice per-game, and is on track to have its best season under Billy Napier in total turnovers and plus-minus.
That's a fantastic stat if you're new defensive coordinator Patrick Toney, especially when it's the defensive backs doing the damage. Corner Eric Garror has two interceptions, safety Percy Butler has recovered two fumbles, and Saturday, junior safety Braylen Trahan intercepted his third pass this season. The Acadiana product has picked six passes in his three seasons, that leads the Cajuns over that time span.
"If you talk to Braylen, he has a really good understanding of what's happening. He's bought in to being a student of the game. He's a big extra film study guy," Napier said Tuesday. "He may not run the fastest 40, or have the highest vertical. But he has really good instincts, and certainly anticipates."
Napier told reporters Trahan will be a captain Saturday when the Cajuns hosts Arkansas State. Louisiana has won two-straight against the Red Wolves.
