Louisiana's Cedric Russell scored 21 on the road Thursday night, lifting the Cajuns to their fourth consecutive win.
The Cajuns topped Texas State 62-60, pulling within a game of the Bobcats in the Sun Belt West standings.
Russell's 21 points led all players. Louisiana's Dou Gueye scored 11 and recorded 10 rebounds for another double-double. Louisiana led for 36:26 in this game, Texas State briefly leading 39-38 in the second half. It was Texas State's only lead of the game.
Louisiana will play the second of the back-to-back series Saturday at 4 p.m.
