LAFAYETTE — A prayer vigil was held Tuesday night for Ragin' Cajun baseball coach Tony Robichaux.

Community members flocked to Russo Park to join with the Robichaux family in sending prayers and well wishes. Robichaux is recovering from his second surgery related to a heart attack he suffered on Sunday.

Support from the baseball community flooded in for Robichaux through the week.

LSU head baseball coach Paul Manieri tells WVLA that his prayers are with Robichaux and those close to him.

"It just makes me very sad to know that he's going through this. I just pray that he comes out of it," he said. "His influence on so many young people is so profound."

The Robichaux Family provided a statement to the community, thanking them for their prayers and support.

We would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone in Ragin Cajun Nation for the community outpour of Love, Prayer and Support.

Coach Robichaux as we all know is a fighter and a warrior of the Christian faith. He has dedicated his life's purpose to Leading, Motivating and Inspiring each and every individual that has crossed his path.

Now, more than ever, is our opportunity to give coach the same gift he has always given us.

On behalf of the Robichaux Family, please continue the mission to overflow the heavens with prayer as we continue to fight this battle together.
