Louisiana senior big man Dou Gueye will be in uniform for Louisiana Friday night when the Cajuns host Little Rock, the 2020 Sun Belt regular season champions.

Gueye missed the Texas State series due to COVID-19 protocols but is cleared to return. He's one of five players in the Sun Belt averaging a points-rebounds double-double. Teammate Theo Akwuba is also on that short list.

While Louisiana has one of the deepest frontcourts in the Sun Belt, Gueye's presence will be needed against a Little Rock team who features a pair of 6-10 big who combine to average 27 points and 17 rebounds. The Trojans get about half of its scoring in the paint.

"They've got a strong team. They only play seven or eight guys, similar to Texas State, so their rotation is limited," said Cajuns' coach Bob Marlin.

Little Rock is 6-3, 2-0 on the season, one of two team in the conference with a perfect conference record. The Trojans won the Sun Belt regular season a year ago.

"This is their first road test and we'll get a great shot from them," said Marlin. "It's going to be a challenge to knock them off two nights in row, but we're looking forward to it."

Louisiana hosts Little Rock at 6 p.m. Friday, it's a 4 p.m. tip on Saturday. The school's women's basketball series at Little Rock has been postponed.
