Sun Belt volleyball will still play a season this fall, and the Cajuns open the year up Friday night against Houston Baptist at Earl K. Long Gymnasium.

Due to health protocols fans will not be able to attend home volleyball matches this year.

The Cajuns have a 25-match schedule, made predominately of conference opponents. This year the teams will meet three times each weekend, playing double-headers on Fridays. That change, coach Heather Matzeitis-Fontenot says will test the team's depth.

"The only thing I think about is if we have a kid test positive and they're out for 14 days or 10 days or whatever it is. They're going to miss a lot of matches. So to play two conference matches on one day, as you referenced we do that in preseason to get our kids in shape and play a lot of people, but during conference season, we'll do it, I just don't know what it's going to look like honestly," she said during a Zoom conference Monday.

Louisiana returns four seniors including St. Thomas More product Avery Breaux, and all-conference hitter Hali Wisnoski.
