Cajuns unveil 2019-2020 basketball schedule

LAFAYETTE — The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns will host five games inside the Cajundome, while making trips to TCU, Arizona State, Wyoming and the MGM Resorts Main Event in Las Vegas during the 2019-20 non-conference schedule that was released on Tuesday.

Louisiana, which released its Sun Belt Conference schedule on July 30, will play 15 games at home in 2019-20 beginning with the Nov. 5 season-opener against Loyola of New Orleans. The Ragin’ Cajuns will host in-state foes McNeese (Nov. 9) and Southeastern Louisiana (Dec. 3) along with Youngstown State (Nov. 15) and UC Santa Barbara (Dec. 29) in non-conference action.

The Ragin’ Cajuns will open their road schedule on Nov. 12 in Fort Worth, Texas at TCU, which reached the 2019 NIT semifinals, before facing Wyoming on Nov. 21 in Laramie, Wyo. Louisiana will then head to Las Vegas, Nev., to compete in the MGM Resorts Main Event which includes 2019 NCAA Men’s Basketball Championships participant UC Irvine and Detroit Mercy.

After facing SLU to open the month of December, Louisiana will travel out west for a non-conference game against NCAA Championships participant Arizona State on Dec. 7 before wrapping up its non-conference road schedule one week later at in-state rival Louisiana Tech (Dec. 14).

Louisiana will cap off its non-conference schedule on Dec. 29 when it plays host to UCSB, which finished 22-10 last season and reached the semifinals of the Big West Conference Tournament.

The 2019-20 television schedule and tip-off times will be announced at a later date.
