Cajuns strong start continues with 62-49 win over Xavier

LAFAYETTE — A season after suffering one of it's worst years under head coach Garry Broadhead, the Cajuns seemed to turn the corner picking up a 5th consecutive win Monday at home.

Louisiana topped Xavier of New Orleans 62-49.

After trading buckets much of the first half, Louisiana used a 15-4 run, before a Golden Nuggets bucket ended the first half. The Cajuns carrying an 8-point lead.

In the third, Louisiana used a game high 19-points to open up a double digit lead they wouldn't relinquish.

Freshman Alexandria Goodly gets was one of two in double figures. Jomyra Mathis the other.

The win is Louisiana's sixth in seven games. The Cajuns didn't win their sixth a season ago until January 31st

"It's rewarding when you put in the work, coaches say you put in the work and you'll get something out of it," said Mathis who finished with 10 points. "What you get out is what you put in. I feel like we deserve these wins and earned them. It's a great feeling
