Louisiana basketball is adding former NBA guard Anthony Goldwire to its coaching staff.

Bob Marlin announced the hiring Wednesday.

Goldwire will serve as team's Director for Student-Athlete Development. He played college ball for coach Marlin at Pensecola Junior College, before transferring to Houston. He was the Phoenix Suns' second round pick in the 1994 draft. Goldwire played for nine teams over seven seasons in the league. He was also an assistant coach for the Milwaukee bucks from 2010-2013.

“He brings a wealth of experience playing and coaching at the professional level," Marlin said in a statement. "He will be a big asset to our student-athletes and coaching staff as we continue to strive for Sun Belt Conference championships.”

Goldwire has had several coaching stops in the NBA's D-League (Now G League) and on several summer league teams.
