LAFAYETTE — Former Ragin Cajun great Gene Bacque died Saturday following complications after surgery.
Bacque was 82-years-old.
He played for what was called Southwest Louisiana Institute in 1956 and 1957. He would turn pro and join the Detroit Tigers organization.
Bacque made his name playing in Japan as he became a star on the Hanshin Tigers. He'd finish his career with a 100-80 record, and 2.34 ERA.
