LAFAYETTE — Former Ragin Cajun great Gene Bacque died Saturday following complications after surgery.

Bacque was 82-years-old.

He played for what was called Southwest Louisiana Institute in 1956 and 1957. He would turn pro and join the Detroit Tigers organization.
