LAFAYETTE — Louisiana's offense backed pitcher Hayden Durke in a 7-3 win over Rice.
Durke, the freshman ace, ran into a rocky patch in the second allowing three runs. It was the only blemish on his final line as he struck out 9 earning his first career win.
Connor Kimple, Carson Roccaforte and Brennan Breaux recorded multi-hit games. Breaux, who drove in two runs, gave the Cajuns a 5-3 lead in the third.
Louisiana (4-2) will play game two of the three game series with Rice on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
