Louisiana softball opened the season Friday with wins over Ball State (3-2) and UTSA (8-0) in the 34th annual Louisiana Open.
All-Americans Summer Ellyson and Megan Kleist opened and closed game one for the Cajuns. Ellyson earning the win, while Kleist earned a save in her Louisiana debut.
In game two Kleist got the start and allowed just three hits in five innings against UTSA. Bailey Curry and France's Melissa Mayeux each hit fifth-inning home runs in the 8-0, run-rule, victory.
Louisiana hosts North Texas (2:00 p.m.) and UTSA (4:00 p.m.) Saturday.
