LAFAYETTE (Press Release) – Louisiana resumes Sun Belt play after a thrilling midweek contest on Tuesday night when it travels to Alabama for a three-game series at Riddle-Pace Field against Troy. Game times are set for 6 p.m., on Friday, 3 p.m., on Saturday and 1 p.m., on Sunday.

Despite a 4-6 road record ahead of the midway point of the season, the Ragin’ Cajuns (12-14, 3-3) are 2-1 in conference games away from home after taking the league opening series in Little Rock.

Sophomore Hayden Cantrelle has worked his way to the top of the stat sheet entering the weekend, hitting .323 (30-for-93) with six home runs, six doubles and 13 RBI. Cantrelle was named the Sun Belt Player of the Week prior to Tuesday’s contest after his big week in which he hit for the cycle and went 10-for-20 at the plate.

Todd Lott is hitting over .500 this year as well with 22 hits in 72 at bats, including at least one in the last nine games, while Brennan Breaux is second on the team with 29 hits and has notched 25 RBI.

On the hill, Jacob Schultz (0-0) will make his second consecutive start on Friday night. Schultz has gone a team-high 36.2 innings and boasts a 1.72 ERA with 23 strikeouts. Fellow sophomore Austin Perrin (2-2) will look to win his third-straight game on Saturday, entering Game Two with a 4.19 ERA in 34.1 innings pitched. Sunday’s starter is TBA.

Troy (11-13, 1-5) has had a tough go of it to open conference play, running into the likes of Arkansas State and Coastal Carolina. The Trojans, who did not have a midweek game this week, are coming off a Game Three victory over the Chanticleers in its most recent outing on Sunday.

Rigsby Mosley leads the way for the Trojans with 29 hits. Sadler Goodwin has matched Mosley’s 29 hits on the year and leads the team with 20 RBI.

Levi Thomas (3-2) and Cory Gill (1-1) will be the Friday and Saturday starters for Troy, with Sunday’s starter listed as TBA. Both listed starters enter the weekend with an ERA over 4.0.

Louisiana leads the all-time series over Troy, 32-17, and are 12-7 in Troy under head coach Tony Robichaux. The two teams have split the last 10 games with five wins apiece.
