LAFAYETTE (Press Release) – Louisiana Baseball finds itself in a familiar position entering the 2019 season after being selected as the preseason favorite to win the Sun Belt’s West Division for the third-straight season, the conference office announced on Wednesday morning.

The Ragin’ Cajuns claimed 71 points in the poll and received 11 of the 12 first place votes, with Little Rock staking claim to the final first-place vote.

“It’s an honor to be recognized as the preseason favorite,” head coach Tony Robichaux said. “We have a tremendous group of young men who have committed to putting in the work both on and off the field that have led to this recognition. That said, we still have plenty that we need to accomplish in order to achieve our goals.”

Texas State was picked to finish second in the West Division with 55 points, followed by Little Rock (48 pts.), UTA (36 pts.), Arkansas State (24 pts.) and ULM (18 pts.). Coastal Carolina was the unanimous pick to win the East Division, receiving all 12 votes in the poll.

Louisiana is just over two weeks away from opening night when it hosts No. 16 Texas at M.L. “Tigue” Moore Field at Russo Park. Season tickets for the 2019 season are on sale now and can be purchased here.
