LAFAYETTE (KATC) — Louisiana football has never beaten Mississippi State going 0-3. Louisiana has never won an SEC match-up going 0-42. But there is something valuable in all that history.

Current Cajuns have ample experience on the road in the SEC. For the past seven years Louisiana has played an SEC team. Last year the Cajuns led Texas A&M at halftime, before losing in College Station. UL also played at Ole Miss in 2017.

Head Coach Billy Napier knows the SEC in and out and he respects the experience his team brings into Saturday’s game.

“The good thing is with this football team is they played on the road against two SEC teams last year,” he said Monday. “And they experienced success. The first half against Texas A&M they went into the locker room ahead. I think that’s one of the positives in this situation is we have a group of players who have been in these battles, and know what to expect.”

The Cajuns will meet to SEC top-25 teams on the road this season, playing Alabama also September 29. It’s their first top-25 match-ups since 2014.
