The Southwest Athletic Conference will explore playing football in the spring as the conference announces Monday it will postpone all fall sports.

The schools met Monday to vote. According to a conference release, football will seek a seven game schedule proceeded by an 8-week training period that begins in January. The teams will play six conference games, with an option to play a seventh non-conference game, though as things stand the SWAC is the only conference to commit to a spring schedule, the Mideastern Athletic Conference, Patriot League, Colonial Athletic Association and Ivy League, all said spring football would be looked into, but none committed to it.

Details pertaining to the schedules of the other fall sports have not been released.

The conference says no decisions have been made with regard to winter sports. Basketball tentatively begins games in October.
